ok for some insane reason I read this thread from the begining to the end.

Here is my take--Yes Newyorker, you are definitely entitled to your opinion, I am just not sure why you felt the need to post such a negative one. You could have posted that you did not like Disneyworld for the corporate reasons and such.

However, why did you have to go into the "fat" people stuff, why did you need to say Orlando--the whole town was boring. Sorry but I think you went a bit beyond a trip report.

I do have two questions for you, which have been asked before and which you have not answered.

1. If you truly thot what the babysitter was being paid was despicable---I am assuming you tipped him or her well? Yes?? I know when I am in NYC everyone is expected to tip even thee very worst service. So did you give them a tip???

2. Since Orlando is thee most boring place on earth according to you, where the heck were you going past your childrens bedtime that you even needed a baby sitter. I know when I am in a boring town, I stay in, order room service and read a book. Or watch TV, so you must have gone somewhere in that God forsaken town????

Ok newyorker what are the answers??

Forum poster, all...

Lot's of heat, very little light in this discussion string.

Maybe the initial response should have been, "to each, his own."

For Borealis and jimmy,

Travel posts are meant to share information. This one is simply a rant & rave, filled with one person's negative point of view. How does it benefit in any way anyone who is reading the thread?

I don't think that my post was attacking newyorker personally. nyr listed some reasons why they thought it was so awful, and I listed why I felt that information was not true.

This was not an unbiased trip report. I am thinking that when this was posted that newyorker must anticipate hearing from people who love Disney, no?

You cannot post something so inflamatory and not expect it to get a little heated. I thought that majority of the posts were right on the money, and not "personal" at all.

Maybe I should not have said "loved Disney" But rather, people who will take the opposite veiw point, and/or point out the obvious, such as Patrick did.

It just bothers me when anyone generalizes so much with a destination.

'Hate' is a very strong word.

oh for goodness sakes. Why does anyone feel like they have to defend their choice of a vacation spot. If someone doesn't like Disney, telling them why they are wrong isn't going to change anything. They don't like it, and some others do- so the ones that do will go back and the ones that don't won't. End of story. This is another example of a posting to get people worked up, which it predictably did. Newyorker should just not go back- vote w/your wallet.

Borelais - welcome to Fodors. Unfortunately, too many threads fall apart like this one.

SiestaLinda, we went out one night because my wife and inlaws wanted to see the fireworks and listen to the accompanying music. And yes, I tipped the babysitter because I felt bad about how much the good folks at Disney underpaid her. It was also strange that she made it a point to tell both my wife and myself how much she got paid.

So did the kids like it or not?
