10 day Maui itinerary! Eloping plus honeymoon!!!!!!!
 

Hi there!! We are visiting Maui for the first time this year between November 12th and 22nd and are eloping while we're here! We'll be married on Wednesday the 15th on Po'olenalena Beach followed by the Hoku Lani dinner at the Fairmont, which is the resort we're staying at!

I have started trying to plan our itinerary and would be open to any suggestions!

(We understand there's not much "down time" in our itinerary and we're ok with that. We're early risers and would like to be out and about most of the time instead of having lots of down time/beach time.)

What do y'all think?! Doable??

Sunday: Land @ 3:00pm. Pick up rental car. Groceries. Resort. *possibly catch a simple dinner with a view close by depending on tiredness level.

Monday: Explore Wailea (maybe Kihei) and eventually head to lava rocks.

Tuesday: Marriage license appointment @ 10am in Wailea. Total chill day.

Wednesday: Wedding and Hoku Lani dinner

Thursday: 8:00am helicopter tour in the morning. Then explore around Paia Town this day and have a chill evening.

Friday: Sunrise @ Haleakala (leave Fairmont at 2:45am) have breakfast at kula lodge after. Then explore uptown all day.

Saturday: Swap meet. We already have a reservation for Mama's Fish House this evening. Is there something we can do to fill the gap between swap meet and dinner? Or change the dinner date?

Sunday: Spend the day in Lahaina. Old Lahaina Luau at 5pm

Monday: Road to Hana

Tuesday: Do the drive through Napili and Kaplua up to the blowhole and back to the Kapalua zipline at 1:00. After zipline either chill evening or possibly a sunset dinner on front street?

Wednesday: Flight at 6:05pm. What can we do this morning/early afternoon? Also, what time to be at the airport to get rental car returned, make it through the check points and be on time??

Random observations:

Hope your dinner reservation at Mama's is before sunset. That's really the best time.

Do I understand correctly that you're leaving for Haleakala at 2:45 am and afterwards plan to spend "all day" upcountry? I applaud your energy.

If my memory serves, the rental-car return areas are a short distance from the main terminal at the airport, and there's a shuttle to the terminal that takes maybe 5 minutes. (I think, maybe, you could walk it, but baggage would make that difficult.) The return process is quick, painless, and typical for a US airport -- pull up, attendant scans the code and takes mileage, hands you a receipt.

I have TSA precheck so we zipped through security, but even without it, I don't think it's a terribly long process. Short story: Arriving a couple of hours ahead should be OK.

That day, you might consider a ride to the town of Makawao. It's probably about a half hour from the airport, so it'll be an easy ride back. It has shops, restaurants and art studios -- just a place to leisurely knock around and have lunch before your flight.

I would probably get groceries the following day after visiting Wailea rather than after a tiring flight.

Get a cheap handheld GPS and find a couple geocaches including EarthCaches at blowholes.
The oldest Pacific lighthouse is in Lahaina not far from a huge Banyan tree.

If you are coming from the east coast, you may find that you will wake up the first night about 3 a.m. You may decide, as we did, that since you're awake, you may as well see the sunrise at Haleakela. Keep in mind that no matter what morning you go it's high elevation and pretty cold up there in the early a.m. Take a blanket.

I would change the dinner reservations at Mama's to lunch. It is a lovely setting to be enjoyed in the daylight. It is a leisurely meal and a great location to take pictures and watch the wind surfers. Haleakala is cold! Warm gloves and a hat won't take up much space in your suitcase.

Congrats! You have a very hectic schedule for me of doubling back. That might work perfectly for you.
I would tag on lunch at Mamas on PaIa day spending an hour watching the surfers and kite surfers and windboarders up the road.
I would also add exploring Napili/Kapalua to your Lahaina day -but I need precious little time in Lahaina.
Ask for later check out and enjoy the last few hours and have them store your bags. Pack a day bag for the pool/beach. I think they have a changing room to prepare for your flight.
