1 Day In San Francisco....................

We've been to San Francisco 4 previous times and have seen most of the attractions, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square, Alcatraz, Palace of Fine Arts, Sausalito, Pier 39, Muir Woods, Sonoma, have eaten in and explored SOMA, Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman's Wharf, Union Square & Nob Hill. Have been to the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge for great views of the city and driven down the crookedest street.

We will be in town for one day on a cruise and was wondering if we have missed a highlight that we could accomplish without a car. We haven't been to Golden Gate Park and were thinking of doing that but not sure exactly the best way to get there from the cruise terminal and exactly what to do when we get there. I assume the park is safe to walk around on a weekday during the daylight hours. Also are taxi's readily available from the park back to the cruise terminal??

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

The Presidio, The Walt Disney Family Museum there as well as a City Guides tours, if available are really nice. {the museum is not a KID's attraction}.

A tour of the Castro [also by City Guides] is really good, as is Twin Peaks tour.

You have barely scratched the surface of things to see and do.

GG Park is certainly safe during the day and if you have a few hours, would suggest the De Young Museum and then maybe having a nice stroll and/or lunch at the nearby Japanese Tea Garden.

And double check with your taxi driver but think there is regular service to in front of the De Young.

The San Francisco Transit Authority has a website where you can plot what it takes to go from Point A to Point B.

The cruise terminal is at Pier 35. Here's a trip I plugged in for today from the cruise terminal to the De Young Museum:

Besides the De Young Museum, there's also the California Academy of Sciences, Strybling Arboretum, and the Japanese Tea Garden all tightly grouped together. A little bit further is the Conservatory of Flowers. You'll not lack for things to do in GG Park.

Pier 35 is near AT&T park. If the Giants are in town....
