you may already be familiar with this link, but it is self walking tours of the areas you mention with some info about each that, if you don't know, might make the walk more interesting with some facts and stories.

on the rec of someone on this board, we had a great meal recently at the restaurant Five Front, and subsequently recommended it to a friend who lives in the city who also enjoyed it there.

Depending on when they arrive, I would go to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum. The Museum is wonderful small Museum, I just visited it for the first time last week and would recommend it to anyone. I also really enjoyed the Transit Museum in Brooklyn too (but I'm a bit of a transit geek).

I saw them setting up for that when I was there last week. Sadly I was two days shy of being able to see the whole thing, it looks fabulous. I really like Brooklyn, every time I've been there I've had a lovely time and have met very friendly people, it is probably my favorite part of nyc, and whenever I go there I think to myself 'ya know, I could live here' and I rarely have that thought while wandering around Manhattan.
