?? in Beaufort, Sc and surrounding areas

My husband and I will be traveling to Beaufort, SC in Oct, we are going to the Shrimp Festival. We were thinking of staying at the Cuthbert House Inn...has anyone stayed there? Any suggestions on restaurants in Beaufort or surrounding towns? What about Hunting Island, would it be a good area to bike? Any info on close towns would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

Hunting Island State Park on Hunting Island is a wonderful park in which to ride bikes. A second interesting excursion near Beaufort is the Old Sheldon Church ruins.
I've included a link to explain and describe the ruins in more detail.

Each time we are in that area, we stop at both of these places. They're incredibly beautiful and intriguing.

Just google old sheldon church for more info.

This time of year you might want to head out to one of the barrier islands for the ocean breeze.

We love Fripp Island.

Here's another vote for Fripp Island. Been there several times and always enjoyed it. If you are in the mood for shrimp try the Shrimp Shack (on the road between Beaufort and Fripp) - casual setting, good food and very reasonable prices.

Lunch or dinner at Plum's is nice and I enjoy brunch at Blackstone's.

SC will mail you brochures on anything you request. Please visit our state tourism site and req. material. All the advice on this post sounds great. Oct. is a great time to visit SC! Edisto Island and Charleston are somewhat close and very nice too.
