? about rooms at La Costa resort, CA
Hi all. I just booked a room for a big wedding in April. All I asked for was a double. But then I started wondering if we would be happier requesting a location? Like by the pool, by the 17th green, I don't know. We have never stayed there, so was just wondering if there were any specifics that I should request. As most of you know, is is NO cheap place to stay, so would like to enjoy our two nights there. Thanks.

Haven't stayed there, but just want to recommend reading the reviews of La Costa on tripadvisor.com...
The LA Times Travel section also made a trip there recently and were not very favorable, mostly due to very poor service at check-in.

La Costa has been doing renovations and I think that has improved the resort considerably. As Frankie said, I know there have been complaints about service but recent comments on tripadvisor said service is improving although reviews do tend to be mixed.
You said you were staying at La Costa because of a wedding. Are you just staying there because it's convenient for the wedding or are you also wanting to experience some of the resort ammenities such as golf or spa?
If you are just staying there because of the wedding I am sure there would be another location that would be more economical. If you are there to play golf or go to the spa, you will have to decide how much that is worth. Most people complain about this resort because they are paying top notch prices but don't feel they are getting a top notch experience.

Heavens,
Paula1470's last sentence sums up my feelings about La Costa perfectly. One of those negative reviews on Trip Advisor was mine. We stayed their when they were "finishing" construction, but that doesn't excuse the rudeness of the staff.
Unless your entire family is staying there, and you'll miss important activities if you don't, then you might consider the Four Seasons Aviara or the Ritz Carlton for your stay.

Well, the entire resort will be for this wedding, if I understand correctly, or the majority of it anyway. So, there will be a lot of action going on the whole weekend.
The guys will be playing golf on Friday and the wedding, don't know the time, on Saturday. Otherwise, would not be staying here. La Costa has never impressed me much. We got a "special" rate of $210. We usually never pay that much, but since all of our friends and the groom's friends and family will be here, b/c they are from out of town, looks like the place to be. So, we will just hope that they have cleaned up their act. The grounds are beautiful.
I personally just don't care for resorts where you are landlocked to depend on "their" services for everything. You get kind of trapped. But since that is where the action is, we'll give it a go.
Thanks all for the great tips.
