yet another what to pack question????

My husband and I are going to a Mexico AI resort for 4 nights. We plan on one excursion, but staying at the resort relaxing every other minute! As for day, I think I will need a bathing suit and a sundress or two. How dressy should we be for dinners? There are several dining options, and we plan on taking advantage of the finer ones. What is the general dress attire at these restaurants. This is our first resort vaca and have no idea what to expect!

What resort? And where? I ask because "Mexico AI resort" could be anything from very very casual to a bit more dressy depending on the specific place. I know in Puerto Vallarta there's some AI ala carte restaurants that require long pants for men, for example.

I spend a lot of vacations (1-2 weeks at a time) in Mexico and this is my basic pack list:
2-3 swim suits (so they have time to dry out)
1-2 sarong or swim suit cover-up
4 shorts
7 tops (tank tops, tshirts, short sleeve cotton blouses)
2 capri pants
1 lightweight linen jacket
1 sneakers
1 flip flops
1-2 sandals
robe or something to sleep in & lounge around the room
assorted undies/sneaker socks

Hi cja, I always packed like suze except for less pairs of shorts and instead have packed a couple of sundresses.

Oops, I should have said that. Thanks, LoveItaly. I think both skirts & sundresses are great to have along for a beach vacation (I just never wear them myself, so I forget to mention them)!

great suggestions

We are staying at the Valentin Imperial Maya in PDC.

I am a sundress girl as opposed to capris or shorts. How dressy should I be? As for my husband? Do many men actually wear dress shirts, jackets and ties or is a nice linen ok? The resort doesn't require jackets and ties We are going on an ATV excursion. What is important to have for that?

If the resort/restaurant does not require it, I'm sure nice linen will be fine. I have never ocne seen a tourist wearing dress shirts, jacket or tie in 20+ trips to Mexican resorts (but then I don't stay at high-end places so hopefully am not giving misinformation).

I've never been on an ATV excursion but hear your might get dirty/muddy/wet. I think you'd definitely want some kind of pants & sneakers for that?
