TripIt App?

Hi all,

I'm using the TripIt app for our trip to Greece. So far it is pretty cool because you just forward your confirmation emails to them and it puts it all on a timeline. Has anyone had any trouble using it?

Thanks!

I've had the TripIt app since it first came out and used to use it to store all the data for all my trips but realized that while I was traveling I rarely looked at it or actually needed any of the data. While I never had any trouble using the app in the past I actually stopped using it a couple of years ago.

I was wondering if the allure would wear off.

I was irritated to find that it doesn't recognize all emails. It's good with hotels and flights. But oddly formatted emails (like confirmations from hostels) it doesn't like so you've got to add them manually...thus making it no more useful than the calendar on my phone. I think it's probably a lot more useful app if you're more of a conventional traveler like my parents.

TripIt is the type of app that almost needs no introduction.

I have used it for years and depend on it while traveling. It has everything right there. And after the trip, you can go back, to access info you might need, such as a car rental locator number for a claim. Only small private hotels/BnBs need to added manually. You can send the itineraries to family and friends too.

I didn't think about sending the info to others. Thanks!

Check out Kayak "Trips." It's free, and loaded with features that Tripit offers with a paid subscription. It's my favourite itinerary management app. I've tried Tripit and it doesn't measure up. Kayak "Trips" recognizes more booking emails than Tripit, and their email alerts on flight delays, gate changes and baggage carousels are a Godsend. I've written a detailed review of why I like Kayak "Trips" on my blog (link is in my profile).
