Signing a Passport

I got my US passport today and looked at it and signed my name the way I normaly sign my name...First name, Middle Initial, Last name...

then I read the instructions and it said sign your full name!!

Am I going to have problems when I go to China this summer? Or anywhere I go now??

I used to work for Uncle Sam. You shouldn't have a problem. If anyone asks you to sign your name, sign it with your middle initial only. Ditto on everybody else.

I have travelled all over the world, including China, without signing my middle name on my passport. I have never had a minute's trouble, and neither will you. I doubt that very many people even saw the instruction to sign your full name. I know I didn't, so I signed the usual way, which is first name, middle initial, last name. Don't worry.

My signature is so indecipherable you can't tell whose name I signed, let alone whether it's first/middle/last I've never had any issues with it to China.

When I replied the first time I was at work. Now that I'm home, I have dug out all 4 of my passports I've had in this lifetime. On the passport I got in 1980 I signed only my first and last name. On the ones I got in 1985, 1995, and 2004 I signed my first name, middle initial, and last name. I have traveled to about 50 countries and I have never been questioned about my signature.

I looked at my husband's passports, and he has never signed his middle name or middle initial. No problems for him either.

Thanks for the info guys...I won't worry about it anymore...

Kinda stupid to have people sign their full name if they never sign it that way anyways...Oh well

Can't wait til summer...first time out of the country...and no more worries about my signature

Again thanks for the help!!!
