shipping med supplies to UK

We are going to be in the UK for 20 days this summer. I need to ship about 1000 pounds of medical supplies for my husband to use while there. These are fluids he uses for home dialysis. oth Fedex and UPS seem very expensive. Does anyone have a better idea?

Have you looked into buying them there? You might ask on the Europe board, too.

"the company said no" - your insurance company? Worth checking the costs anyway - might be cheaper than shipping - medical costs are cheaper in Europe.

Insurance won't pay outside the US. I'm going to check with a second company in the UK that also manufacuters Dialysate, hopefully they will sell to me.

If he needs 6 gallons per day, he should be in a doctor's care.
Have your US doctor refer you to a British doctor. The British doctor can send you to a public dialysis facility.
6 gallons X 8 lb/gal X 20 days = 960 lb.

healthtools.aarp.org/galecontent/dialysis-kidney/3

check with your nephrologist for approval

and best way to do it in the area you will be traveling.

If ok with MD he should be under a UK nephrologist

in case problems arise.
