About 5 hours from Rochester to Cleveland. How about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on the lakefront?
If you didn't want to drive, the westbound Lake Shore Limited leaves Rochester about 11PM every night.

Niagara Falls Canadian side my fav for ambience views or Atlantic City 6 hours or so. classic.mapquest.com directions distances best deals for hotels for me betterbidding.com bid priceline.com for up to 70% off.

Happy Trails!

Welcome to Fodor's forums!!

You'll also want to repost your question over on the United States forum, and tag it New York state.

(Not too many people read this general 'travel tips' branch.)

You don't say when you are planning this trip but from the tone of your post I gather it's sometime soon. If that's the case anywhere within a 6 to 8 hour drive of Rochester is going to have essentially the same "weather".

You can visit NYC, Montreal, possibly Quebec City, parts of the Poconos, Vermont, New Hampshire and even Boston.

Lots of choices - depends on what you want to do when you get there.
