Need help packing for Brussels and Amsterdam (8 days)
Going to Brussels on April 23 for 3 days, then the rest in Amsterdam. I always pack too much. I looked at Rick Steves podcast, but he talks only about packing for a man. Anyone who helps me will get a gold star on their forehead!
Thanking you in advance....

Umbrella, light weatherproof jacket and sturdy shoes that can withstand rain. Sturdy shoes are also for the cobblestones. It's still cold in northern Europe so you might like to review the temperatures when you are leaving and dial the jacket up a notch. It rains quite a lot in that part of the world. Also layers are a good thing, maybe a fleecy jacket. It's around 6 - 7C at the moment, but I would think temps would be about 8 - 10C by that stage.

A fleece vest is my best travel item when you're not sure of the weather. Put it into a gallon sized ziplock baggie and sit on it to get the air out and it makes a real small packet.
To avoid packing to much my best suggestion is put everything you are considering taking into a separate place (I use the bed in my guest room or you can use a table or back of a door, whatever, the idea being to get everything in a separate place so you can LOOK at it). Make sure everything fits, all the colors mix and match, and you don't have too many duplicates (there's no reason to have 3 turtlenecks or long sleeve tshirts for example).
Plan to wear your clothes multiple times without washing (except for undies). Just hang them to air out at the end of the day.
Really think through your shoes, because those take up the most room. Wear your bulkiest pair on the plane.
If you post what you are planning to pack, I'd be happy to cross stuff off your list and tell you why suze
