Honeymoon ideas for two weeks at the beginning of September.

Jump to last reply

We are getting married at the end of August and are currently struggling to decide on a honeymoon destination for the last couple of days of August and the first couple of weeks in September.

The story so far:

1. We had orginally fallen in love with the idea of going to Mexico or Thailand and staying at one of those mini-villas (i don't know what you call them!) with a private mini pool within a hotel resort. However, we soon found out that Spetember wasn't the ideal month for either of these places, with the chance of rain etc.
2. We then toyed with the idea of going on a multi-destination Canada trip within the Ontario-Montreal area, seeing places like Toronto, Montreal, Quebec etc. My husband-to-be's mother's side of the family is from there and he wanted to take me to show me how great it was. I liked this idea but wasn't sure about moving around every few days and also wasn't sure if this kind of vacation would be relaxing/romantic enough.
3. Next was Venice. We have visited Italy a couple of times before (Rome and Sardinia) and loved it. My parents also visited Venice for a few days last year and said it was wonderful. What put us off a little is how expenisve Venice seems compared to other places and also my Dad didn't seem to think you could spend more than a week there without running out of things to do.
4. Now my husband-to-be has got the idea into his head that he wants to go to Las Vegas :s Don't get me wrong, it looks a fun place to visit, but for honeymoon i can't help but think it's a bit tacky!!

I guess the problem is we can literally go anywhere in the world and so narrowing it down to just one perfect place seems difficult, especially as many of the traditional honeymoon spots are out of bounds weather-wise at this time of year. We love to travel and wanted our first trip as a married couple to be a big adventure. We live in the UK so just hopping over to another country in Europe doesn't seem quite the adventure we had hoped for.

We want romance, relaxation, fun and great weather! Can anyone give us any ideas?? We're getting desperate!

Thanks!
