I wouldn't go on an all women's group trip, but I don't like homogeneity in any group. I find it really boring & limiting. But I know there are many women (married, gay, don't like solo, senior)who would love an all women's travel group. I think it is a great idea. I would do a "soft adventure" tours and an "arts & cooking" tour.

Hi Lisa
I will be there 10/22 arriving late, around 9 pm. I will be staying at Mingtown Etour Hostel in Huangpoo District (not the Mingtown Backpakcer's Hostel). The 23rd/Oct is my first full day, which is MY BIRTHDAY, and then I will leave on the 29th or so for Beijing.
Would like to meet up if you are there.

I'm another person who really dislikes single supplements. I accept that single rooms will usually cost more than half the price of a double room, but I'd much rather see the different prices upfront.
If I didn't have a partner to travel with, I'd join a group to visit the places I'd prefer not to go to alone. Morocco is one example - on the one occasion where I went for a walk without my partner, I found the attention I received from local men intimidating. I'd also join a group to travel along the Trans-Siberian Railway (it would be great if one group member was fluent in Russian).

Hi Moniker - well, I did the Trans-Siberian (actually the Trans-Mongolian) on my own, and I speak no Russian at all! And I'm heading to Morocco tomorrow - first few days and last few days on my own, middle part with a group. I did have a small run in with a guy on the Trans-Mongolian, but he was later led off in handcuffs, so it wasn't just me!

I would love a woman only group - but it must have all the criteria that I would have for any group tours:
small group - 12 or less.
no single supplement - however, I would want a single room, and will pay for it. After all day with a group, I want my own space.
Slower pace, no three countries in a week
interesting destination/itinerary, off the beaten track. I can organize a trip to the usual places, but would need help and support to somewhere more unusual.
I want to travel and the family doesn't, but I like having people around to meet and talk to. Have traveled solo, and it doesn't appeal to me much now for more than a few days.

This past June my sister-in law and I traveled to the Amalfi Coast with GutsyWomen and I have to say it was a real nice trip. I usually travel with my husband and we travel with Tauck which is a wonderful tour group. Everything is 5 star and well done. Gutsywomen which was 4 star was a little different but so much fun. We had 9 women, our guide(who was fabulous) and a driver. Traveling with just women is so completely different, but if you have a great group like we had, and a great attitude for fun, it can and will be a great trip.

I'm a very inexperienced international traveler and would feel uncomfortable making all the arrangements myself and traveling alone. I'm married, but my husband's idea of a vacation is lying on a beach somewhere for a week. That's not for me so we rarely take vacations together.
I have a degree in history and reading and studying history has remained a life long passion. I’m interested in historical and cultural tours. I’ve been on three women only trips in the past year or so - Greece in Sept. 2007, Costa Rica in Dec. 2007 and Turkey in May 2008. I always pay the single supplement and get a room to myself. For me, the most important thing is having knowledgeable guides and a well planned itinerary. If a long expensive flight is involved, I think it’s not worth to going for less than two weeks. I also want to be in a small group of about 12 to 15 people.

I went to Greece with a small travel company named Eurynome Journeys (http://www.wanderwoman.com). I would highly recommend them. In fact, a 2009 Egypt trip is posted on their web site with no details. I need to E-mail them to find out if any further info. is available. I'd go with them on another trip without hesitation.
I went to Costa Rica with a company named Woman's World Travel. I don't think they're in business any more. The trip I took was great, 8 days very active and we had a terrific guide.
I went to Turkey with a Turkish tour company named Tribes Travel. The itinerary was great. However, I wouldn't recommend them because, in my opinion, the guide, who was the company owner, wasn't qualified to be discussing the complex history of what is now the country of Turkey. I ended up having a lot of disagreements with him over his historical interpretations. There is a company called Adventure Associates (http://www.adventureassociates.net/a...#calendar)that has a May 2009 Turkey trip with has an itinerary that looks great.
Hope this helps.

I went to France and Belgium with French Escapade. I loved it! They organize tours for small groups of 8 women, and that way you really you feel like a group of friends. Some people had come alone , others came with friends but it was always a great experience. Their site is www.frenchescapade.com

Syl, go for it! There can never be too many women-only travel groups. When your business hits the ground running, why not also contact Journeywomen.com to request the site feature a blurb about your business. That site has a global readership, too, like the others mentioned her. Good Luck on your venture! We lasses need each other's company and protection.
