Winter Holiday Ideas

My family has never one a winter holiday but would definitely like to have a not too challenging introduction to the world of winter sports. However, my kids aged 15 and 9 also like theme parks, roller coasters, etc whilst myself and the wife also enjoy the luxury of spas, fitness suites, good dining etc. Does anybody have any suggestions as to a winter location that could combine most of these elements to keep everyone more or less happy?

You could look into Edmonton and Jasper Alberta. West Edmonton Mall (largest in N. America) has an indoor amusement park, large wave pool with water slides, an ice skating rink and much more (as well as shopping).

It's a 3 hour drive from Edmoton to Jasper where you can downhill and cross country ski, snow shoe or just enjoy the beauty of the mountains in winter. I would suggest staying a few days in Jasper at a minimum.

If you want more information about Edmonton/Jasper, I suggest posting again on the Canada forum.

Whistler is beautiful and great for winter activities, but it doesn't have an amusement park with rides.

I would recommend that you visit the island of Malta. You may feel somewhat warm but will not regret going over there.

The weather's fine for a walking tour of Sydney. Visit The Rocks, the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Australian Museum, Hyde Park, Chinatown, Darling Harbour.

@TheExpert - and just what will the OP do in Malta and Sydney for winter sports? And theme parks? Did you read the post?
