I recommend Eagle Creek. I have one that's been around the world several times, on the road for months at a time for years and has never failed me. It still looks fine too. It's so durable I got bored with it rather than having had it wear out so just got another one for some variety, a bit smaller than the previous one, very light and more suited to carry-on.
Check out the styles http://www.eaglecreek.com/ and buy at a discount from http://www.ebags.com/ or http://www.sierratradingpost.com/. |
Rick steves makes a decent rollon carryon sized luggage. I have had the same 4 pieces for three years now and they have traveled with the 4 of us on many trips. They are lightweight too.

I second Eagle Creek. We have had ours for about 3 years, and we are still in love with them. A little expensive, but we think well worth the price.

I would also check with www.ebags.com
They have customer reviews, ratings and the like. The selection is unbeatable, not to mention the great pricing. I also like the fact that the weight of each bag is given. You may buy it from ebags, but it usually it ships directly from the manufacturer. |
Thanks guys and gals!

I have owned a Tutto cary-on bag for at least twenty years and I love it! There are many sizes of Tutto bags, but mine is 20.5" long x 14.75" high x 8" deep which fits under most airline seats or in the overhead bin. It also collapses down to 2.5" when not in use. It has a frame of PVC pipe, which is very strong and the handle is on the top outside and wheels are on the outside bottom so there is lots of inside room. It also has outside pockets on the end (small) and a large pocket that fits 8.5" x 11" papers, catalogues or books I have been all around the world with this bag and have never had a problem of any kind with it. It also has locking capibility. Check out http://www.tutto.com to select the size and features you'd like.

Another vote for the Rick Steve's bag. We have several of the 21" rolling bags and they have taken some beatings and are still going strong. We normally do carryon only, but for about an 8 month stretch DH had to travel weekly and check the bag with work equipment. That bag is still going strong. Even with rolling the bags along cobblestone streets more times than I can count, and up and down curbs (I am not gentle with luggage, lol) so far no issues.

I am bumping this thread up because I would like to know more about the Tutto bag from ScotLass4 or anyone else who has used it.
Can anyone tell me how it "steers" in airports? Can it be "steered" easily when something is stacked on it? I am considering buying a sturdy rolling carry-on and using it with a classic ballistic nylon check-in bag that I has no wheels. The idea would be to stack the check-in bag on top of the carry-on for the short amounts of time that it takes to get the bags to check in and back. The Tutto bag looks good for that. Any one have any experience with stacking the Tutto? |
