Where would you go in peak summer..??

If July is the only possible travel month and you did not mind paying the high prices that go along with peak season travel, where would you go.....?????

Looking for ideas.

Cheers,
Anita

Can you give us a hint what you are looking for? Do you want to go to Europe? A vacation with history, architecture, art, food? Are you looking to relax? Like going to a beach vacation in Mexico, Hawaii, or the Caribbean? Do you want an adventure trip? Central or South America, India, China?

Your question is a good one, but it's a big as the world!

July is not peak travel season everywhere -- it is low season some places. Definitely give some ideas of the sorts of things you are looking for.

Thanks for your replies.

We live in Orange county, CA so can fly from either LAX or San Diego. Its going to be my DH and 2 kids on this trip(8 & 6). My in-laws live in London so we've done that quite a few times. DH and I have been to Rome and Spain(except Andalusia). Past few years we've taken the kids to Paris for 1 week and Florence & Tuscany hilltowns(10 days) and they've loved it.

We initially thought of doing Spain again with the kids(my son loves soccer and really wants to go there) and including Andalusia but have been hearing horror stories about travelling south in July. Then we thought about Argentina but I dont want to have to go that far and not do Patagonia which will mostly be inaccessible during their winter.

So thats why I'm kinda stuck. We as a family love good food and slow travelling in general. We'd love a relaxing trip but cant just stay by the beach endlessly. We've done quite a few trips to Mexico too so would like to avoid that.

I'm originally from India so thats out too.

Thanks again. Anymore ideas...?

Any more ideas..?

Thanks again!

the Canadian Rockies or the East Coast (Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island) are beautiful in the summer.

Or perhaps Alaska with a cruise.

I'm limited to June/July for my travels, too, and some of my favorite trips have been to "opposite season" places: Peru, including both the Andes and the Amazon, Chile (trip report here: http://www.fodors.com/community/sout...rip-report.cfm) and South Africa.

Iceland is great in July, too, and there is that nice combination of glorious nature and nice little cities and towns.

Switzerland is another good option; check out Untours: www.untours.com It's a great way to take a relaxing, slow-trav, family vacation.

I love the Argentina idea, just plan for places that are appropriate for that time of year.

I think Spain sounds like a fine idea too, especially since you son has particular interest. I'd need to know more about the "horror stories".

For example, 'everyone says' Venice is awful in August or that Paris is empty. That happened to be the only time I could go and it was a wonderful trip.
