They are advising to hand carry it and oresent it for manual examination.

Jenn, are you troll or idiot?<BR>Even before 9/11 you shouldn't pack your film in check-in bags.

Jenn, in June trip to Europe/Tanzania and back I carried film in carry on baggage. Had it in clear zip lock bag. Some secruity workers would pass it around the scanning device. On flights to Europe/Africa still had film in the sealed boxed some were multi-pack while others were single roll. Had one (Detroit Airport) who wanted each canister opened. Since it was on one leg of return trip as much of film had been exposed I have relatively few rolls yet in the canisters. Film is so easy to carry it was the one item I wanted on my person. Never go the checked baggage route.

Checked baggage has been subject to random x-ray inspection (often using stronger x-rays than the machines that check carryon items) since the 70's. Checked baggage may also end up standing out in the sun waiting to be loaded, and heat damages film, too.

I just returned from a couple of trips both abroad and domestic. I kept film and camera in my carry on baggage and all photos came out fine.

Even my 800 speed film was fine in carryon after multiple xrays.
