Where to go post break-down

I'm scheduling a tongue in cheek break-down in 3months and have no idea where I want to go. Leaving my job in January for a spell, and need to get-away to regroup and find a bit of myself again. I'm a female under 30 traveling solo, looking for decent weather, great food and wine, and some old world charm. Would love to do a culinary program for a bit, horse back riding, and general meandering through cute towns. I would like to start with something structured for a week or 2, and then get a small simple apartment somewhere to use as a base.

Any ideas?? I'm overwhelmed and would be SO appreciative of any help and guidance!

Well personally I would head either to Mexico or Hawaii, because that's where I love best. Both have everything you are asking for.

But do you have Europe in mind? Your description seems more you're wanting the south of France or Italy or something like that?

Okay start with the easy stuff. What's your budget?

I do have a Euro influence in mind - thinking about Argentina as it has some european influences in terms of architecture, but also good weather, wine, horses, etc.

My budget is around $15k.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Argentina sounds great to me. Look for posts from "Scarlett" here on Fodor's. She's living there these days.

Ever consider a safari in Africa?

That's where I'd dash back to in a second.

Croatia - perfect for breakdowns.

You mentioned horses - are you a rider? I've taken two riding vacations in France, alone, and they were not only beautiful and delicious, but the extended fresh air and exercise were a great way to clear my head. And also (I was a solo female traveler) were perfectly safe. If you are interested I will share further - just ask.

Woops! I just noticed how old this topic is. Nevermind...
