The Cranky Flier is writing about a quick trip to Scotland, and he posted this about eating haggis:
"I also ordered myself some haggis, and eagerly awaited its arrival. When it arrived with mashed potatoes and bashed neeps (turnips), I could hardly contain myself. I dove in and was rewarded with a very rich and delicious meal. Haggis may get a bad rap outside of Scotland, but that’s probably from people who have never eaten it."

Ordered in ignorance (as a teen): Tartar steak, which had its rawness emphasized by the raw egg on top and the raw onions included in the surrounding pile of condiments. Under the rule of "If it's on the menu, it's edible," I ate all of it, except the raw onions.
Ordered knowing full well what it was: Tripe. Chewy, flavor that of the cooking sauce, unimpressed.
Coming from a family where liver, tongue, spleen, etc. were eaten, I consider offal to be comfort food.

Honestly? I’m going to go with sea urchin. I think it’s one of those things you love or hate. And unfortunately, it’s also one of those things that is either good or bad, and you don’t know until you bite into it. When it’s bad, it’s really, really bad.
I’d count the food I had in Iceland, but I’d prefer to never remember the fermented shark...

Weird - tried posting 2x but didn't see it go through.
Years ago, we were in Guilin with a tour group. I went upstairs to the dining area ahead of the group and saw they were setting up tables with food. I recognized the fish, but couldn’t figure out the other meat.I motioned to the servers and asked what it was. They giggled as they said, “meow.” We ate the fish that night.

Warthog and Eskimo ice cream.
Been in the same room with, but didn't eat... Old Fish (title tells all) and Seal Blood Soup (ditto.) Nope.

I lived in BC and we would eat some wild game that I would never try today. My Dad killed a lynx once attacking our livestock. It tasted like chicken. We fed to dogs but had to taste it. This was in the 1970's. Bear was nasty but moose was very tasty. I grew up eating scrapple. Haggis is sort of the same. Chill, slice and fry it thin thin, top with maple syrup.

I had snake soup in Hong Kong at a NYE dinner -it wa sdelish.
I cannot stand durian and i have tried it many ways -even at a durian festival in Singapore in a cake -the smell.
I consider tripe, sweetbreads , liver etc every "un-exotic" food.l
I did enjoy pony stew and a horse burger in Slovenia.

There is plenty of opportunity to try gross/adventurous things here in Southern California. I think the worst was sea squirts in a Korean mixed seafood stew... they must have been on special, since they usually weren't part of the mix. I think even Andrew Zimmerman hates sea squirts.
While traveling, probably the grub in the Amazon.... no biggie. And yeah, andouillette is disgusting (that would have been at the La Samaritaine cafeteria in Paris).
