There are lots but probably my favorite holiday memory is from one New Years.

-- I was living in the UK at the time and we just picked a place on the map that looked off the beaten path. We phoned them (this was before main stream internet access) asking about their rates for New Years - never thinking to ask if they were actually open at that time of year. They gave us the rates and we jumped at it. Well, come to find out the hotel isn't open in winter - though the attached pub is open year round. They figured "what the heck - we'll have paying customers". So after a harrowing drive, getting stranded in the snow and having to be towed out by a local farmer, we show up (husband, Airedale, Scottie, in a Morgan rag top) 3 days before New Year as the <u>only</u> guests. We were wined and dined (well actually beer'd and whisky'd) royally by everyone for miles around, learned all sorts of Scottish country dances, met a trad band and an indy rock trio over from Glasgow, and even went '<i>First Footing</i>' through the whole village. It was absolutely the best New Years I ever experienced. --

Oh- forgot to mention -this was in remote village on the west coast of Scotland.

We were in Paris around Xmas time in 2004 with our children. We were staying in the 6th Arre. for a week and made a trip everyday to a local boulangerie, Fabien LeDoux, on Rue Mabillon, nearby for breakfast. As there were 4 of us, they came to know us and were very friendly. The day after Xmas, we went to the boulangerie and in addition to eating breakfast, we asked them to prepare a picnic lunch for us as we were taking the Eurostar in the late morning to London. They prepared all the food and packed it up beautifully with ribbons. There were 2 large shopping bags of food.

We had reserved a banquette on the train and began unwrapping our lunch. What a surprise! They had charged us for 4 sandwiches but had packed all sorts of goodies - delcious canapes and appetizers, salads to complement the sandwiches we had ordered, pastries and petits fours for dessert including chocolates. We were astounded. There was also a note wishing us a Happy New and inviting us to return on our next visit to Paris.

We were the envy of all our seatmates, as there was no food service on the train because of the holiday. People kept looking at our bounty and smacking their lips. I wish I could have imported that boulangerie to Ohio!

I spent a full hour in a swimming pool with my full family, this is the most memorable thing of my tour.

Hey! It was amazing tour when I visited to Kashmir at India that was a nice place. The icy mountain attracts me. When I was in a boat in Daal lake it was a nice memory for me. When I went to Pahelgao I feel the snowfall. The sky was full of ice rain just that day was cloudy, dark, and coldest.I went out in the road and play with the ice in my hand. I think it is the best place in India.

One of my best travel memories is riding an elephant up the hill to the Amber Fort in India. A very unique experience! The up and down movement of the elephant where you feel like it could tip you off at any moment but which is yet so enjoyable, the views over the surrounding countryside and hills and then the beautiful palace at the top where my favourite room was definitely the hall of mirrors - so elaborate and intricate - I would have loved to have seen it when it was actually being used for the parties and events the palace would have hosted in the past - must have been an amazing place!
