Hey suze, I agree we may not be visible but trust me we spend a lot of time reading all the great posts. It's one of my New Year's resolutions to be more active---and to encourage more posting on this specific forum.
|
Cate_W~ That's what I figured. I ask only because it was before your time but I was very active myself trying to make something of the Solo Traveler forum. Actually had it going a bit for awhile. But then y'all changed the name again and it (the forum) fell basically into disuse or seems only people who are lost end up here (advertising, or should have posted in Europe, US, wherever).
So I was interested to see this new effort being made here. Thanks for your kind explanation. Maybe you can get some of the traffic out of the Lounge (lol). best, suze |
To become a Fodors editor
|
To get a new girlfriend that likes to travel.

I resolve to not fly until the US comes to its senses and reins in the TSA.

Interesting thread!
As always, my resolution is to pack smarter and lighter. I'd also like to build up my arm muscles to lift my own carry-on into the overhead. The biggest problem is that I'm so short I have to stand on a seat (on international flights) to reach the darn bin. I'd like to make full use of my iPhone and iPad, including the Paris app from Fodor's. I'd like to actually make reservations at a few nicer restaurants rather than dropping at the end of the day and finding anything that's open and convenient. And, finally, I'd like to take our special needs granddaughter, 18, to New York to see all sorts of plays and musicals. |
To explore my own state more. Virginia has many cute towns and beautiful natural areas. There are many regions I've never been to.
|
To visit our son studying in buenos aires even though the airfare is really expensive. I don't think sneaking on the plane is possible anymore.
|
My resolution is to make possible my dreams of traveling within the US...without a car. I'm looking into a small group trip that includes Yellowstone; my grandfather served in the cavalry at Fort Yellowstone, and it's been a dream of mine to go there, but I don't drive. I've found it easy to get around on my own in India, China, and so forth, but public transportation in the US can get kinda tricky--as in, well, there ain't none in a lot of places.
Here's to exploring my country, one way or another! |
I have 2:
#1 -- To count up all the Fodors editors and get an accurate tally. :o) #2 -- To go beyond my travel comfort zone - to that end we are going to Sweden this spring to pick up our new Volvo! We will drive it around Scandanavia for a bit before it gets put on a ship to voyage home. |

ohhh, DebitNM, I LOVE your resolution 2!
|
This year we are visiting relatives. I resolve to pretend these are actually vacations.
|
Aduchamp - I resemble that resolution! Our "travel" this year is very family based - visiting, weddings and college trips... I believe no stamps on my passport in 2012... I resolve not to complain about it. :)
|
Good luck with that one, Aduchamp1!
|
My illegal drug of choice this year is Novacaine.

I'd try this if I thought it would actually help. Lee Ann |
I resolve to be more open to new experiences on vacation. Last year I went on a hike and enjoyed it although I didn't think I would. Maybe I can surprise myself this year with something else I might enjoy that I previously thought I disliked.
|
I don't need "resolutions" in this department. I think of them more for areas you want to improve your live or need to make positive changes.
I am already VERY GOOD at travel, excellent at it in fact, if I do say so myself, so no resolutions needed! |
No more checked bags. My luggage was lost in Paris and all my trip treasures were gone forever. Carry on's for me from now on, even on the week long trips overseas. I had to get new luggage and found some great reviews at http://hardsidepolycarbonateluggage....luggage-guides
The article on 9 Tips for Choosing the Best Luggage was very helpful. |
