Vacation tipping

2 questions for you -

Do you tip the owner of your apartment rental? One week, no real interaction other than the key exchange.

Do you tip the owner of the kennel who boarded your dog?

I never know, so usually end up tipping to avoid an akward moment.

I tend to tip and perhaps overtip while traveling. However, I do not tip owners of villas or apartments, nor do I tip kennel owners.

I think that these folks set the price at which you agreed to when you contracted their services.

However, I would tip the housekeeper at the villa and would also tip the walkers or vet techs at the kennel.

Just my .02!

owners (of just about anything) are not generally tipped. Exceptions - maybe a limo company owner is also a driver. Then maybe tip like any driver.

Or the owner of a hair salon who also works as an operator - sure tip like normal.

but owners of kennels, rental homes, B&Bs, whatever -- tips are not usually appropriate.

Do you tip a hotel concierge? How much and when?!
Thanks.

"Do you tip a hotel concierge? "

Yes, if they do something special for you. Not for simply answering a question at the concierge desk. But getting you theatre tickets, or arranging something special - yes, tip.

"How much and when?!"

Unanswerable - depends on what s/he did and how much work it took.

When? - when it's convenient. When you collect whatever he got for you -- or when you seem him next -- or when you check out.
