Vacation Ideas?

Need vacation ideas for August 2010 Anniversary. We live in Texas and have done Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, and Cancun to death and have loved it each and every time. We have been on cruises also. Looking for ideas around the same price range ($2K per couple/week) that might venture off this path.

We love the beach and diving so anything beachy is a plus. Maybe just looking for a change of scenery.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Aruba is pretty neat, great for diving and snorkling.

How about Puerto Rico?

I highly recommend Cabo San Lucas. Our clients have rated our top hotel choice in Cabo with 100% positive feedback. See the photos I took while I was in Cabo at: www.JulieRoggowPhotography.com Look in the Mexico: Cabo San Luca album.
There is a link there if you want to contact me direct for hotel recommendations.

I love Cabo San Lucas but wouldn't send someone there in August!

I love the coast of Maine, in particular Ogunquit. New England has some great beaches and you mentioned August so New England would be my suggestion. We live in the middle of Massachusetts and vacation in Ogunquit often.

My husband and I loved Costa Rica, we stayed in a tiny town on the Central Pacific Coast called Esterellos Oeste. The people were so friendly and the wildlife was amazing. We rented a cute little house very near the beach, swam, took surfing lessons, met ex-pats and fun locals. it was really NOT a touristy town but Jaco was only 20 mins away. We found CR really cheap too! However we went in March and it was in the 90's...I cannot imagine what August would be like...best of luck and happy anniversary!

Alaska will be great in August for a change of scenery.

Thanks everyone! I will do some research and see what is available for us!

I could suggest also Costa Rica. I love that place since it isn't so touristic as Hawaii and similar places.
