UK to Havana via Miami

Hi, looking to travel to Havana in Cuba from London via Miami mid Nov - is this feasible. Getting conflicting info on whether that is possible or not. Help !!
need the outbound leg to be via BA from london hence the Miami option.

What’s wrong with flying direct on Virgin Atlantic? Are they full?

Cannot change the first part ie Virgin not an option unfortunately. Is there a restriction of booking flights from US to Havana or is it just because we're trying to do that from UK?

Seems like you have to jump thru hoops as we say here.
I think you can go easily thru Canada, Mexico and most probably many countries in the Caribbean.

Thanks.....think that's the conclusion we're coming to as well.

Why does it have to be via Miami? If you must use BA, i would take the easier option, BA to Mexico City or Cancun and Havana from there on one of the Mexican carriers. We very nearly did that when in Mexico last year. I think interjet was the carrier.

The problem a few years ago (and it may have changed) is that is no regular, scheduled airline service between the US and Cuba. No Delta, United, American -- flying the route. What you had were "charter" airlines making the trip but flying very regular schedules. I think we flew on something like World Airlines from Miami. It was an odd set up. But I am sure it was designed to get around some US restrictions on flights to Cuba. Good luck.

Many US airlines have regular service to and from Havana now. I've taken Alaska (no longer serving Cuba) and United (still is).

President Obama opened up travel to Cuba from the US, but President Trump shut it down again. I know that cruise ships can no longer stop in Cuba- if you're having trouble finding a flight, then apparently they've been cancelled, too.
