Trip Insurance Recommendations Please
Hello - It's been quite a while. Is Travel Guard still a good way to go, or are there others you'd recommend? Doing a photo workshop in September, and figure I should insure it just in case...
Thank you! |
Travel Guard gets mixed reviews.
You can compare policy terms, coverages and premiums for almost every Travel Insurance company at www.insuremytrip.com. They have a toll free 800 number you can call to speak with an unbiased representative who will help you find the best policy for your particular needs. |

For anyone else looking, recommendations for Travel Insurance - Compare the Best Quotes & Buy Online (squaremouth.com) have also been used by some here. Might be worth looking into.

We have had good service from Travel Guard, paid our claims in full quickly.

Thanks everyone! I did look into Insure my trip - but how do you know which company is best? Anyone have experience with Generali Global?

What do you need insurance for, and what kind of place are you going to be visiting? If you want insurance to cover unexpected expenses in the case of weather delays or lost luggage or routine things like that, I'd recommend looking at automatic travel insurance that lots of premium credit cards offer. For example, we've been able to make claims pretty painlessly on the insurance provided by the Chase Sapphire and Amex Platinum. Even if you travel just a couple times per year, the annual fees on a premium card are a good deal compared to paying for travel insurance out of pocket.
If you're going to be traveling in a less developed region and you want insurance to cover more expensive and rarer contingencies like emergency medical evacuation then you'll need to pay. I haven't done extensive research, but people like World Nomads. |
If you are older, try Seven Corners.
World Nomads has an age cut off. |

So - I may be out of luck for what I need. I wanted to get "cancel for no reason," but because I made my first trip deposit in April, I am too late, at least for Seven Corners. I figured for a Sept. date I would be fine. I am such a procrastinator. I should be OK - but my mom is a concern. Sh!t happens - more so at that age. Any thoughts on who might allow it at this point? (Cancel for whatever reason at three months out.)
Thank you! |
Good luck finding something -- IME for most (maybe all ?? ) policies, the clock starts at the time of booking, not based on the dates of the trip itself.

I am finding that out. :-( It has been so long since I've even used travel insurance, I'd completely forgotten how it works.

You've already been advised to contact insuremytrip.com ....
