Traveling from Michigan to Florida with large dog and towing fishing boat

My husband and I recently retired and we will be traveling from Michigan to Florida, towing his 17' fishing boat and accompanied by our 116# retriever. What route is recommended when towing? (We have an F150 and regularly trailer between the Upper and Lower Penninsula's of Michigan.)

When we travel in Michigan we can stop along lake shores or streams to exercise the dog when we travel. What locations along the route might to large enough to exercise a large dog?

Lastly, since this is our first "road trip" with our dog, we welcome suggestions for dog friendly motels along the route.
