Travel tips
Hello
I'll be visiting the East Coast this summer and would like recommendation on travel apps or more generally on how you would choose which spots you would visit in a foreign country? How would you rank the spots you visit? Thanks Jas |
Guidebooks! Always a worthy investment, IME, but you can also check your local library. For inspiration and high quality photographs, you might want to start with Eyewitness or Insight or National Geographic Traveller. Then check Fodor's or Frommer's or the Michelin Green Guide for prioritizing your options. And then check the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet to get nitty gritty details.

As far as travel apps go, Yelp and Google maps are the only two useful ones that I can think of.
I second the suggestion of guidebooks. |
<How would you rank the spots you visit?>
I don't "rank" places I have visited. |
I agree with using Yelp and Google maps in regards to apps. Besides checking out guidebooks, I would look up the tourism board for each destination. They're really good about giving advice, information, recommendations, and even coupons for restaurants and shops.

Yelp & Google maps are a definitely best way for visiting the East Coast travelling.

I used to look at tour descriptions and see where and how they traveled. Then I would do my own trip planning for my husband and me. Now I just take river cruises

"'ll be visiting the East Coast this summer" . The East Coast of which country?
|
Every traveler would rank places differently. Would you want only cities ranked or lakes and mountains, road trips or city stays, old or new?
