Travel Pro luggage question
Hello -This is very random, but I just received my underseat roller carry on, and I'm trying to determine if it's correct that the telescoping handle only stays put at it's longest length. It doesn't click and stay put at any other length. If this doesn't make sense, I'll try to explain further. I cannot see a way to contact this company other than filling out a form that doesn't address my concern.
I like the bag, but if this handle is faulty I need to exchange it. Time is ticking before my trip. Does anyone have one of these and can you confirm that it only clicks in at the longest point? Thank you! |
I don't have that bag but blowing up the photo of the fella pulling the bag it does look like the handle should have intermittent stops. Tomorrow I'm actually going to be in a department store that should carry that model -- I can take a look and make sure.
. . . I briefly read through a few pages of reviews and a couple mentioned it having a long handle but none mentioned it only being collapsed ot full length. |
Curious, I went ahead and read through about 40 pages of the reviews and while several mentioned it was easy to roll and the telescoping handle, none mentioned intermediate stops.
The closest I found was on pg 17 "The handle is great for taller people or short people." which might indicate it does 'telescope' to different lengths. But as I said I will likely have a chance to check one out in person tomorrow. |
didn't even know this thread existed. thanks Rocket

There is a store in my town that carries the brand, but they didn't have this specific case. :-( |
Mission semi-accomplished. Neither Macy's nor a mall luggage shop carried the MaxLite line (like most luggage brands they have distinct lines for different retailers -- like Costco will have different lines than macy's or their own stores)
But I did see very similar style TravelPro wheeled under seat bags in both Platinum Elite and Crew Classic -- One is 4 wheeled and one is 2 wheeled and both their telescoping handles stopped at intermediate lengths. Doesn't prove anything one way or the other but does ted to show that the handles should work that way. |
I have no proof of anything :-) but to say I have never seen a telescope-type handle on a piece of roller luggage that did not stop at at least one intermediate adjustment.
|
Brilliant. Thanks to you both. I thought as much. Dammit, I hate packing these up and returning them. Hope I get a functioning one next time...

Handle and handling part starts at about 5:40

That is the Crew Classic roll aboard -- completely different animal. We are talking about the MaxLite under seat bag.
Whatever. |
No they actually aren't the same -- some have 2 stops some have 3 -- apparently the one the OP received doesn't stop anywhere except at full extension.

Update: Thanks all for the efforts on this! I am returning the case. I do believe that the handle was faulty. It had the little holes and knobs in places that should have allowed it to retract at various heights. I've ordered an international carry-on roller in its place. Fingers crossed that this functions properly, as I don't have time to order a third! I wanted something smaller, as I do have a medium check-in, but the carry-on roller actually weighed a tad less, and holds more, so will be something I can use for shorter trips.
Thanks again! |

Thanks again! Oh -- if there are holes/little 'knobbies' and doesn't stop then it is definitely defective. in your OP you said it didn't 'click' and I wasn't sure if you meant there were non functioning holes or no holes at all. Now it does seem obvious your bag was defective. Just a note -- luggage is one thing I never buy on line. I'm such a luggage fanatic - I need to personally see/feel/roll every feature. I used to teach packing classes (for 20+ years) so I have a LOT of luggage -- some only used for demos of what works and what doesn't, and some for my own personal use. Zipper quality, wheels, type of interior tie down straps/latches, just everything makes a difference. Luggage is something I always buy in brick and mortar. But then I have a lot of B&M options in my area so that makes it easy. |
