Travel eruope early November this year

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to London in early November. looking for places that should be good to visit within 2 weeks?
1) Will driving be worth it at this time frame, say if I want to start from London, onto Scotland, Cambridge, Oxford, etc. Is it safe to drive at this time, how's the road condition?

2) Would it be worth to visit Zurich and nearby places than take Eurostar back to London? Will I be able to visit the Kapellbrucke (Chapel Bridge)?

3) Not planning to visit any museum this time, looking forward for more nature sightseeing.

My main concern is weather and if there's enough daylight to do much sightseeing?

Thanks,

Welcome to Fodors. For information on Europe you will do better to post this on the Europe board - use the Change Forum option above.

I'm afraid that November is a bad time to go to northern Europe (which includes the UK) if you are looking to spend your time admiring nature and on outdoor activities. I will be in London in early December, but I will be concentrating on museums and the Christmas lights. See timeanddate.com for actual daylight hours.

You might consider trains as well as cars. See seat61.com.

I agree that you should re-post on the Europe board.

November can be a great time to visit - but you'd really want a city-based trip since by then the weather can be pretty bleak for touring the countryside. Also the days are becoming quite short by November.

I'll wait til you have a thread on the Europe Forum before posting more ideas/suggestions . . . then we won't have to duplicate the info and it will all be in the same place.

Agreeing with both posts above. November can be OK for city trips but not as great for the countryside (because of weather and short days).

Definitely use the "Change Forum" and copy & paste your question again on the "Europe" forum and you'll get lots of replies there.
