Back again, I am wanting opinions about the ScottEVest range of travel clothes. It looks just right for the gadget bearing guy (like what I am) but I wondered what Fodorites' opinions are?

I considered the ScottEVest jacket, but realized that I am much more attentive to my tiny pack than I am to my coat and it would be waaaaay to easy for me to "relax" and forget that it contained all my valuables. Probably would work slightly better for a man than a woman, but I believe the same problem would still exist. It's only a good idea while you are on the move, outside. My trips invariably involve indoors and out over the course of a day.

Just something to think about.

Sydney, something like the ScottEVest stuff would just irritate me up one side and down the other. However, some people swear by that sort of thing. It all comes down to personal preference. I'd rather have my stuff in a messenger bag than in a vest, shirt or jacket. If I really needed to protect something (like my passport and extra stash of money) then I'd put it in a money belt around my waist and be done with it.

Most guys I've seen simply get a small messenger bag, camera bag, sling bag, etc to carry stuff. If you're interested in the ScottEVest stuff though, give it a try and see what you think. You might be one of the ones who loves that sort of thing. To each their own! :)

Thanks for your impressions. It's good to know what people don't like or may not like about these products, and not get sucked into the rah-rah-rah of the adverts (which of course they are designed to do.)

A few days ago, I scored a cool Baggalini purse at TJ Maxx for half the regular price. I paid $24.95 for one of their Town Baggs. They have several different styles and price ranges with $12.99 being the cheapest and $29.95 being the most expensive.

I went to the ScottVest web site to see what they were about and there was a picture on the main page that illustrates why I do not care for these types of things. Some guy has his vest on with all the pockets and it is stuffed with stuff - all bulging out and unattractive. I can see having a few pockets for small, thin stuff (like a thin wallet, a phone, etc) - but too many guys stuff their pockets and end up looking really bad.

So Sydney - If you get one of those vests, don't overstuff it. You'll end up looking lumpy.

For the cotton, linen, and silk men's shirts - our Macys has a ton of good ones. Not Hawaiian shirts, just button up shirts with a square bottom meant to be worn untucked. My husband lives in them in the summer time.
