Travel Around Belgium with Side Trip to Amsterdam

My husband and I will be traveling to Belgium (plan 2 day side trip to Amsterdam) for 8 days in November. We are staying at the Grand Place Marriott in Brussels. Would like to get some ideas for things to do while there. We plan to do a 1 day tour of Ghent and Bruges. We plan a 1/2 day trip to Antwerp to visit our daughter who will be studying abroad at the time. How easy is it to get transportation around Belgium? What are some interesting things to do and places to eat there? Also, any recommendations for a hotel in Amsterdam that offers a canal view? Appreciate any input. Thanks

I too would do a full day to Bruges and a full day to Ghent. They are easy by train.
