Train from Venice to Amsterdam with stops or fly

My daughter and her friend are going from Venice, Italy to Amsterdam the end of December and have 2 days in between stops. Should they just fly or take a scenic route? I thought maybe the train would be a way to see a couple more fun places.
Has anyone done that route?
They don't want to ski but I still thought the swiss alps could be fun.

I haven't been there in a few years but the place looks like a postcard that time of year. Definitely a must see!!! I truly recommend the train (though I've never done that route). What a trip to look forward to!

You will get more replies on the Europe board.

For info on train travel the best site is seat61.com. For this trip try: http://seat61.com/Europe-train-ticke...ckets%20online

You'll find schedules for all European trains at bahn.de.

Venice to Innsbruck over the Brenner pass is very scenic.

Welcome to Fodors BettinaOmara. Yes - you really need to re-post your questions over on the Europe board. To get there -- see the 'Change Forum' pull down menu near the top of the page? Click that and then click Europe. When you re-post you can tag your thread for Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
