Titan Luggage
Suggestions, pros, cons on "metal" lightweight luggage?
|
I just ordered a Titan bag and will give you my opinion in about a month.
|
Can you tell me the size and how much the suitcase weighs empty?
|
Although this is far out of my typical price range, I'm very interested in hearing your reactions to the Tital luggage, maile.
But I just want to clarify, Titan isn't metal. It's polycarbonate plastic, though certainly very sturdy. These are usually very lightweight bags. The carry-on sizes weight less than 5 pounds, and I wonder how they measure up to a much cheaper bag like the Heys xcase, which I reviewed for our luggage article this week. |
Received luggage but have not travelled. However, I did run the empty 24" Titan (24x16x11, 9.5 lbs) around the house, over the deck and down the driveway, and it rolls on all surfaces beautifully. I gave my husband all the Eagle Creek luggage along with my dislocated shoulder. By the way, Heys does not seem to make a 24", going with a 20", 21" and then 26 on up to 30.

Hi Doug,
Where can I read that review? I need new light weight luggage for my 2 months Asia trip. A Back Pack is not quite my style. Am concerned about using my duffelbag because it can easily be slashed on a train ride. Also it is not water proof which I unhappily discovered on one trip. |
9.5 lbs. for a 24" suitcase is not "lightweight" in my opinion.

Here's a link to the article. It was just replaced on our homepage by something newer, but it's still appearing as a "news story" in one of hte smaller boxes on the right-hand side of the home page.

Suze, I just ran a very quick comparison of 24" roller luggage and actually the Titan (with four wheels) is lightweight. The others (Briggs & Riley, Int'l Traveller, Travel Pro and Tumi) all ran 10 to 14 pounds. I really am sold on the 4 wheels vs. the 2 wheel "luggers" at this point. And I've also become converted to the "firm" vs. the "stuffable" cases. I also like the 24" size for a three/four week trip.
