Tips to Choose the Right Hotel
 

It is very important to find the right hotel if you intend to have an enjoyable time during your vacation. It is all about striking the right balance between quality and price. So, what are the factors that you must consider before selecting a hotel or what should you do in order to find that perfect accommodation?

One of the best ways is to make a list of your needs and requirements and to match those with the facilities and luxuries provided by a particular hotel.

While selecting the hotel to stay the first and foremost thing that I would look into is its location. It should be at easy access from everything and centrally located. This will help in saving time for site seeing as well as money on transportation. Now based on the budget one can select a suitable hotel and book it. Generally it is better to book the hotel well in advance as it also leads to some saving.

My four most important factors when looking for somewhere to stay are:

1. Budget - both my prefered one (£40-50) and the absolute max (£70) I can afford for a single room/night

2. Location (both for transportation and physical safety) - especially important for someone like me who does not have a driver's license

3. Cleanliness - becaue I'd rather not get bedbugs

4. Safety - both physical safety and being able to trust that no one will go into my room and steal my things while I'm out sightseeing

Everything else is secondary. I can even live with a shared bathroom, if I have to.

I'm different. Even if a hotel is in a perfect location but seems a bit dodgy, I will stay further out. I don't find being in transit a problem as I get to see more of the locals.

A shared bathroom is a big no no for me! lol

It all depends on yor comfort level and minimal standard. I have yet find a hotel room that I won't stay in yet (except once). My standard is pretty low.

With that said, unless I know the place or knew people who had stayed there before, I would stick with a "chain" hotel. As a minimum, you will not get "surprsied", as they have to maintain a certain standard.

First things first, I consider the neighborhood. Like another poster said, I wouldn't want to stay in a shady area. Next would be price and cleanliness. Also, the quality of service there and how helpful the staff is.

Thank you for these tips! There are just really a lot to think about when getting a hotel room. There are times that they look really promising when you check it online. But the real thing is actually an opposite.

I really like finding user photos, often quite a different 'picture' than what the hotel's site shows.

I am happy with
- fridge
- coffee maker
- 2 twins or 1 king bed
- clean, especially newish bed linens
- goodies in the bathroom
