Update:
Never say Scarlett is a quitter. Or never Ignore Scarlett.

After sending countless emails and making too many long distance from South America to Miami phone calls, one year plus a few months from arrival in Argentina, we got our reimbursement.

This is after they finally responded with a pitiful offer of x amount of dollars.. After my reply that x amount of dollars bought one hairbrush, you can do better than that! they ignored me some more.

After many nagging emails and a slight threat from my husband, the reimbursement went up..not enough but we took what we thought we could get.

Months!! later , including more serious threats this time, we were paid in cash at our door, last weekend.

All I can say now is , I really can squeeze blood out of a stone and if you use an International shipper, get insurance separate from the company you use... work out the deal with the shipper on what you expect and get it all in writing.. English would have been nice for us.

So the Tale of the Lost Box is finally ended and I still know that someone out there is wearing MY perfume that cannot be bought in Argentina and I want my antique bottles back!!

ciao!

I worked in the moving business for over 10 years. I always advised people to NOT ever move sentimental irreplaceable items with the moving company but to pack in your car or luggage and take personally. I know this is little help to you now, but it may help others. Also, if you moved overseas, you would have had a container. Did your goods fill the entire container, or did you share a shipping container? If so, the box could have easily ended up in the other household's belongings. If your dhs company does a lot of business with this mover, contact his company. Going through them might get you better customer service, since moving companies value their corporate clients highly, and want to provide excellent service so they don't lose those contracts. Just some ideas if you have't pursued these avenues.
