Bring a cheap watch when you travel. If you lose it, you can replace it without angst. Leave the good watch at home.

The watch I currently have is a llittle $8 thingy, deliberately purchased cheap, as you give in a good reminder, Faux: leave the important things at home.
Thanks! |
My $10 watch's clasp was not so hot and the watch fell off and I lost it. Who cares? I replaced it with another cheap watch bought in Budapest.
I remember once I left a $15 windbreaker on the train at the Gare du Nord station in Paris. I realized when I was in the taxi queue. I shrugged it off and did not go back for it. I had my luggage and it would have just been too much trouble for an outlet mall windbreaker. Unless you are having tea with Queen Elizabeth, leave the family jewels at home. You are often distracted on vacation and things will get lost, left behind and mislaid. If it is inexpensive stuff, you just shrug it off and do not worry about it. I never bring my good watch on vacation. I put a battery in one of the cheap once in the drawer and take it. |
