Stay or not to stay?

I have always wanted to travel, but my husband has already did the 'world trip' , maybe just go on a two week holiday every year. I love him and want to be with him but wonder if i will always hold it against him if i don't go. He also says that if i go then it will just cause problems and we wont work out!! Should I go or stay?!

Sounds like you need a marriage counselor, not a bunch of strangers on a travel forum.

I agree with thursdaysd. But since you asked: Your husband has already traveled and you have not. So now you want to go and he is threatening your relationship if you go on a 2 week trip each year without him.
Are you dependent upon him finacially? Or is this your money you're spending?
Don't you think if you love someone they should want you to be happy?
Does this sound like love to you?

BTW, how long have you been married? Are you newlyweds?

If taking a 2-week solo vacation to travel (something that you want to do and your husband has no interest in) truly risks the stability of your marriage... well that's not such a good indicator, imho.

Am I reading this wrong? I think she wants to go to a long "world trip" and her husband has already done this and is not prepared to do more than a 2 week trip.

As to the question, I can't really offer advice since I don't know anything about this couple.

I read it the same way as esm. Unfortunately, this sounds like one of those things that should have been sorted out before marriage, but I do think a counselor/therapist might help, at least with communication. Just what "problems", for instance.

Maybe look at some of the OPs other threads . . . like this one on the Air Travel board

>>What commonly happens if a traveler is arrested abroad? Are we arrested by ignoring the expiration of visa?<<

I think she has more problems than just being incompatible w/ her husband travel-style-wise :D

Interesting janisj, but on this thread she is asking about going on a super long trip.

"We're leaving in a month for our super long trip that we really have no idea how long it will be. Has anyone had to pack up like this for a trip before?

Okay then...

esm Mar 21st, 2010 02:33 PM

OK, I see what you mean janisj; I didn't know there was more going on here. Didn't we have someone couch-surfing with similar questions?

suze Mar 21st, 2010 07:45 PM

Opps, I read it wrong. I guess this IS supposedly about her wanting to take a long RTW solo trip.
