Spacebags--do they work?

I was about to buy a bunch of Spacebags, both for travel and for compacting coats and the like in my closet, when I read some reviews on Amazon that said the bags leak air. According to these reviews, they leak a lot and fast, re-expand, and then refuse to reseal--something about the ziplock teeth not ligning up.

Have any of you used Spacebags, and do you like or loathe them?

If you do a search you will find this topic has been discussed at length.

Thank you for topping the other thread--I did do a search, and for some reason it came up empty. So thank you!

I don't think they work. Mine held for 1 week. It's a good idea, if only they would work. LOL

I think they DO work....but the vacuum doesn't last forever and if you expect it to you'll be disappointed.

I have them and use them for items I may or may not use on a trip, like a raincoat. Otherwise, I think they are too much trouble. Who wants to be taking clothes out and putting them in a space bag. I do like putting dirty clothes in them while traveling though.

I just use normal ziplocks to accomplish the same thing. Don't see the need for something like that for at home. Mostly, as above, for dirty clothes and the trip back home.

My theory for travel is mostly that they are just one more thing in the suitcase, and you can't even wear 'em.

I used the regular ziplocks, now switching back to plastic bags, the flat type from merchants.

The problem with ziplocks, it seems, zey take up more space in between zose bags, and I can't push small items in, like cosmetics, as zey must be in anozer plastic bag. LOL

When I use plastic bags without a zip, all things get into the suitcase more evenly taking up less space, I think. Oh, well, maybe it's just me, can't pack.

I agree with Faina - I find them to be bulky and they seem to take up more room. I gave up on them. DW on the other hand loves them and packs with them for every trip. Of course she tends to take more than I do so maybe she needs them more....
