Solo Travel Idea

I'm a female who's thinking of taking a solo trip over the holiday's. I only have about 10 days. I'm thinking either Argentina or New Zealand. Any thoughts or other recommendations?

I am a female who travels solo most of the time. It doesn't affect my choice of destinations, and certainly wouldn't affect whether I visited Argentina or New Zealand. It's hard to imagine anywhere safer than NZ, and I don't remember hearing anything especially bad about Argentina, either.

New Zealand! The perfect destination - English speaking, very easy to get around and drop dead gorgeous!

Don't let traveling solo stop you from going the places you want to go. Exercise the same caution you do at home and you'll be fine. You can join day trips or longer trips if it's easier for you; that's what I do when I don't speak the local language. I like to join tours for language, transportation and to just have fun meeting new people.

I would say New Zealand, but that's just because I've enjoyed the Kiwi's I've met so much. :)

What do you want to do on your vacation? What are you interested in? You might have better luck posting on those two boards and asking for suggestions of what to do (include your interests and budget) and then decide which trip to take. If budget is a factor, which place is cheaper and by how much? The average December temperatures for Auckland NZ was 50's - 70 F, and the same for Buenos Aires Argentina was 65-82.

Where are you located? I ask because for me Australia or New Zealand is a LONG plane flight. If I went, I'd save it for when I had more time than just 10 days.

I travel solo often and don't think there's anything about being alone that effects your choice of places you want to see (within reason, i mean maybe not treking the himilayans solo or something).

For me and a 10 day trip, I'd keep the plane flight to under 10 hours myself. Preferably even less. Places I've been solo are: La Paz, Cabo San Lucas, & Puerto Vallarta Mexico; Oahu Hawaii; Amsterdam and Venice in Europe. All were fantastic.

Thanks everyone. These are two places I've never been and can't decide. I know they both are long treks and I might be able to extend my time to 2 weeks. I'm also going to be there for New Years. I'm leaning towards New Zealand. Anyone been there during NYE?

If you're leaning towards New Zealand, put up a post on that board asking for ideas for that time of year. You'll be more likely to get a good response. Remember to include what you're interested in... suggestions for a 'just out of college' female who likes to drink and party will be entirely different for a 'recently retired' female who wants to see scenery and go shopping.

Also I'll suggest you post your questions out on the destination forums. Only a very few people read this "Travel Tip" branch, compared to the other ones.
