Sim card and apps
I've searched the forum and can't find this question answered. Don't know if it's because it's too simple that everyone knows or what, but this trip we want to take our own iPhones and get French sim cards. I'm curious about whether my apps are on the hard drive of the phone or on the sim card. When I change cards, will I have to re-download my apps or will they still be on the phone?

They are on the iPhone, not the sim card.

Yay. Thanks for the help.

Make sure your phone is unlocked.
|
And put your SIM card in wherever you buy it to make sure it works.
I had problems in Florence, and the help line automated attendant was in Italian. I never got it to work. |
Ouch Bamaman. I was planning to have it done there and tried out before I left the store. Thanks for reinforcing that!

Lady1, just to emphasize what Thursday said above, are you sure your iPhone is unlocked? If it is AT&T it is not, unless you get them to unlock it and they have some conditions.

Great question, Lady1. I needed to confirm that, too.
As for AT&T iPhones, they will unlock phones which are OFF-contract only. They don't care if you're going overseas, or at east I had no luck. Go to www.att.com/deviceunlock. Here's related questions from me. I got my iPhone 4s unlocked, but Husband's is on contract, so we're trying to get an older 3G unlocked for him. We're coming into London, then later will be in Paris. I know I need a different sim card for each country. 1) How/where do I get sims--LHR and GDN? Or where in the cities? 2) Will they (whomever we go to) set them up? I assume they'll give us the mobile code and number? 3) What are "good" or common companies? I assume with that info, I can check prices myself. Answer me these and I'm bookmarking this thread. |
Plenty of unlocked phones on amazon and ebay if you can't get yours unlocked.
You can buy SIMs when you arrive, or you can buy them here. ekit.com telestial.com |
