Seattle to Vancouver
My husband and I are planning a trip to Seattle and Vancouver. We are flying to Seattle and staying two nights. Then we are renting a car and driving to Vancouver and staying two nights and then driving back to catch our plane out of Seattle. We are wondering if will have enough time to visit both places considering the drive time and we heard about the border crossing delays? Any suggestions or should we stick to Seattle only?
Thanks for your help. |
JR, sorry I can't help but you'll get more responses if you post this in the US forum.

The drive is only 3 hours, plus a bit more for the border crossing. Yes, I think 2 nights each city is OK. ~Suze (in Seattle)

Two nights each should work but plan your border crossing.
The 2 main crossings are Peace Arch (with the scenic arch and flowers) and nearby Pacific Highway (aka Truck Crossing but not just for trucks!) Most visitors take the better known Peace Arch, and it can get very backed up especially in summer and weekends. There is also construction activity as both US and Canada are constructing new Customs and Immigration buildings ahead of 2010 Olympics. Many times, Pacific Crossing can be a faster alternative but check local radio for wait times at 730 AM. Or go to http://www3.telus.net/bcpl8s/border.htm Since Canadian $ approached par with US $, there have been many more local cross border shoppers who add to morning/evening line-ups. |
Vancouver is an amazing city - you will not be disappointed for the effort!

Ask yourself what type of trip do yuou want? Do you want a relaxing trip? A trip where you see highlights only? When is it? If it's in the winter/fall/apring the rain could add to the length of your trip.
