Road Trip with kids LosAngeles to Nashville
This summer we are taking our kids on a road trip from LA to Nashville over the span of about 5 days (one way). Any suggestions on which route, things to see, places to stay??

That is just over 2,000 miles of interstate driving, which google (usually over optimistic) says will take 27 hours if there's no traffic. If you mean five days/six nights that's 400 miles a day, or near five and a half hours without breaks.
First, what's the point, if you have no time to see anything? Second, the kids are liable to drive you nuts. Third, I am so thankful I am not one of your kids.

Any chance you are a AAA member? They will layout a plan for you with routes, suggested stops, hotels/motels, etc.
If it's not being too nosey to ask, how are you getting home again? If it's another 5 days of heavy driving, that's going to be one LONG road trip for everyone.

My google says 28 hrs drive time plus a few minutes. Divide that by five. Add a super short lunch break of 30 minutes and one bathroom break of 15 minutes, you've got at least 6 plus hours a day in the car?
Assuming you have some breakfast before you get in the car and dinner at some point, sight seeing time is short compared with travel time.
How old are the kids?
Is there some urgent reason for this?
If not, scrap this plan.

If you happen to read this mommieinthecar, you can take the Amtrak Southwest Chief from Los Angeles to Kansas City, MO.
If you rent a car in KC, you can drive about 4.5 hours to St. Louis to see the Arch and a few other things.
From St. Louis to Nashville is about 5.5 hours on I-24.
The train is about 36 hours from Los Angeles to KCY but at least you're not driving it.
