Road Scholar has a bus tour with a pretty interesting itinerary, traveling from Ensenada all the way down to Los Cabos.
We've only ever traveled with small groups and are not sure how much we'd enjoy a bus with 30+.
Anyone ever done this trip or one like it with RS, or traveled this route!

You will get a LOT more responses if you post this on the Mexico board. Not sure who stewbear is, has never been seen on this board.

We did a Road Scholar trip through the Copper Canyon in Mexico and I can't say enough good things about it. Very well organized, good selection of hotels, lots of interesting experiences we couldn't have arranged on our own.

Our group was 22 people and we had 3 guides--with additional local guides in several locations. Often, there were several options of what to go, and a guide available to take each small group.

I have a retired friend who goes with them all the time. She never has traveled alone and prefers this kind of small, educationally focused group trip. She's been to 36 countries now.

When did you do your Copper Canyon tour? I have a friend who is interested in going to Copper Canyon and I thought I'd send her the link, but I don't see it on Road Scholar's website. Could it be included as part of another tour that I'm just not knowledgeable enough to recognize?

I went on a hiking tour of Copper Canyon a few years back with a small Canadian travel company. They no longer offer this tour and I assume it is because of the violence related to the drug trade in Sinola State. We encountered lots of security, lineups, sniffer dogs etc. at the border, but no sign of problems 'on the ground'. It's the sort of situation that makes travel companies and travellers leery, even though the risk to the average person may be slight.

Our trip was several years ago--don't remember exactly when.

Just returned from the Baja trip with Road Scholar which was amazing!
Yes, the group of 30 was too large for my taste - tho a great bunch, and the bus trip (of 1000+ miles) was grueling. But the land was wonderful and the remote villages and friendly people a delight.
Loved coming within touching distance of the gray whales - moms and babies, also snorkeling with the sea lions (at least the baby ones!)
We were told that they may bring back the Copper Canyon trip soon.

BTW - Road Scholar uses Andiamo Tours for the Baja and the Copper Canyon trips. They do a very good job.

If you are looking for smaller groups, try OAT. I have a friend who does not like large groups, and hates to do her own travel planning and they are her preferred provider.

I like OAT - been using them for years. Odysseys Unlimited is also an outfit that does smaller groups.
Neither had a trip like this Baja one.
