Resorts anywhere with ballroom dancing

We love to dance, but rarely have a chance when on a trip. While we aren't really cruise ship fans, we have signed on to a 10 day cruise that does have nightly ballroom dancing (Cunard's QM II). We would love to be able to do that on dry land, but have never encountered a resort anywhere in the world that offers nightly ballroom (not disco or salsa) dancing - has anyone ever heard of such a place??

Well, if you want to tango, shouldn't you be going to Argentina?

And I wouldn't normally recommend Blackpool, in England, but see http://www.icons.org.uk/theicons/col...tower-ballroom and check the posher hotels for dinner dances. Blackpool is also home to major amateur dance competitions.

My UK resort info is out of date - suggest you post on the Europe board and ask about hotels with dancing.

Many thanks, Thursdaysd, for the suggestion of the Blackpool tower - had not heard of it and now we are very interested. Have been to Paris, London, and NYC in past 2 yrs and have found nothing comparable - just disco or swing.
Have been to BA twice and love to tango - but none of the 4 venues we visited there did anything but tango.
Still have never come across a real resort venue that offers nightly ballroom.

The Cloister on Sea Island (off the coast of Georgia) used to offer nightly ballroom dancing, as well as afternoon lessons (with a very good but no nonsense older lady instructor). Great old school room, and an orchestra. Unfortunately The Cloister decided to move away from their traditional family-style resort format a few years ago, and I'm guessing that the ballroom dancing probably went the way of the bingo tournaments and dressing for dinner. A pity, but I take some comfort in the knowledge that the new "bling" approach has apparently been a financial fiasco.
