Re-checking bag after a layover.
Hey guys!
I have a long layover in London for my flight to South Africa and I was curious about re-checking a bag. If I go through customs and hang out in London for a bit and then have to re-check my bag, will there be a fee if I already paid to check my bag back in the states? I will be flying with British Airways… I think when I check my bag at first it will be like, $50, so because I am leaving the airport for my long layover and then have to check back in, I am just wondering if I will have to pay that baggage fee again? Or maybe the tag that I have on my bag will be fine? Thanks guys!! |
Do you actually need the bag? Why not check it all the way through if the flights are on the same ticket?

What did BA say when you called them?
|
BA don't charge baggage fees ( at least they don't in the UK).
|
AFAIK BA doesn't charge for a single checked suitcase. Where did you get $50?
And why aren't you checking it all the way through? |
How long is your layover?
BA don't charge for checked bags, the number free depends on the class you are flying. If you need a change of clothes then put them in your carry-on, and just check the case through to South Africa. Your layover may not be long enough to get into London or even somewhere much closer anyway. |
