Quote of the Day:

"A tight budget is the mother of adventure".
Isn't this the truth?

Always wear clean shoes so that the taste will not be so bad when you put your foot in your mouth.

A road of 1,000 miles begins with... a cash advance :)

(seriosly, begins with a single step)

People should be given an average score since no one is as good as his/her best act or as bad as his/her worse.

SeaUrchin Aug 22nd, 2008 02:25 PM

lollylo25, I think a tight budget can make a person do odd things which may lead to an adventure. Also a big budget would allow a person to pursue adventure without ties.
Good question, because a person could have such a low budget that they would have no ties, which would lead to adventure.

From Caroline Myss:
The author wanted to know why her father why he gave to every homeless person who asked him for money.

His reply, "because I'm not the one who is asking."

Sea Urchin:

I have mostly had the time of my life on tight budgets. Of course, money does help, but it does not insure an exciting trip. You need some finances for sure to travel, but many think you need loads of $$money$$ to wander the world. Burning desire is #1.....and it helps if you choose a place where your currency is the strongest.

SeaUrchin Aug 23rd, 2008 08:00 PM

I agree, lolly. A trip is what you make of it, whether you have a tight budget or not. I have had a blast in the past with just pennies in my pocket and I have had times of my life in expensive places too.

My first trip outside the U.S. was to Jamaica. I had $100 cash total for the trip! No passport, no charge card, no ATM card... nothin'. We had a ball.

Another trip same era I remember on the way home from the Dominican Republic my boyfriend and I had 79 cents between us! What the heck were we thinking? Again we had a blast.

"Not all those who wander are lost" - JRR Tolkien. Also on a tee shirt I bought in Chiang Mai a few years ago!

shangrila Sep 16th, 2008 07:29 AM

Ah Crellston.. my favorite quote ever. But you must get the whole quote, it is even better.

All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost. JRR Tolkien

The other is.. Never argue with a stupid person, they will bring you down to their level and win by default.

Oh so true. :>

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.

Teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
