Question about Africam.com

This is a stupid question, but I've read some of you mentioning www.africam.com
When I go to this site, what do I click on to get the live stream?

DebitNM Apr 27th, 2007 07:38 PM

You shouldn't have to click on anything kodi. Sometimes the black little screen on the left will show you a commericial and then the feed will start, sometimes feed starts initially. It does take a few seconds to load. I assume you have high speed connection to internet; not sure if it will work with dial up.

Debi, thank you, I got it. I knew I'd seen it the other day, but earlier tonight, it did not come up.
But it's there now.
I was trying to catch the early morning activity, but I guess I've missed it now.

Debi, after working so hard cooking such a fabulous dinner , you should be in bed by now!!!

DebitNM Apr 27th, 2007 07:58 PM

aye aye kodi! I was just waiting till 10 pm to head upstairs. I left a note to you on spring clothes thread about black jeans.
Debi

Ok Debi, I forgot about the time difference. I was thinking you were up til midnight... like me.
Thanks for the black jean info.

hills27 Apr 27th, 2007 08:49 PM

The early morning activity usually hits around 1:00 am eastern.

LucieV Apr 27th, 2007 09:09 PM

Well, I give up. Over the past few weeks, I've tried everything, including reading the 7 million posts on NG's enthusiastic thread, checking the instructions on the africam.com site, etc.

I've finally decided that either I'm completely deluded, or this is the biggest hoax of all time. Or that I'm even more technologically incompetent than I thought. :(

Oh, yeah: I'm on a PC with high speed connection. I cleared my cache and rebooted, bleahbleahbleah.
:( :(

Do you have a kid? Or a friend with a kid? Get them to help you.

kodi Apr 28th, 2007 03:36 AM

LucieV, don't give up. When I go into www.africam.com I still only get a still picture of a bird. I don't have a clue where to click to get the live webcam.
However when I click onto the site Debi mentioned above, I do get the video. Although this morning it isn't of the watering hole and the picture is being zoomed in and out. SO unless someone is actually at the webcam, I'm wondering if it's a clip and not the live feed.
But at least I'm seeing some animals.

kodi Apr 28th, 2007 03:39 AM

Duh, ok I get it. I clicked on Nkorho stream on the upper left side.
SO I guess it isn't always the watering hole.

divewop Apr 28th, 2007 03:49 AM

kodi-
The camera also pans around the area near the water hole. They were just showing a group of impala feeding and panning in and out with them, so we're all seeing the same ting. Now they've got the cam on a turtle who just came out of the waterhole.

kodi Apr 28th, 2007 04:16 AM

Ok thanks, I'm seeing the turtle. But the poor little thing looks like it's struggling, and dragging it's head along. Darn, I missed the impala.

At least I know I'm in the right place now.

divewop Apr 28th, 2007 04:23 AM

Good. I think the turtle only had three legs, missing one of the front. Now, a cute zebra foal w/ it's Mom.

kodi Apr 28th, 2007 04:30 AM

I'm so excited!! I was lucky enough to see the zebra and foal.
Now I must drag myself away and get going with my day.

Betsy Apr 28th, 2007 06:08 AM

Lucie, the old tale of the Emperor's New Clothes comes to mind often as I try to access the cam.

I haven't "cleared and rebooted" yet as advised by those in the know, but at the moment I'm watching three elephants cavorting around. Don't know if it's in real time or not, but the time in Africa is just after 4 pm, and the shadows appear to be consistent with that.

sylvia3 Apr 28th, 2007 07:17 AM

darn, I started watching an elephant at 5pm their time, and now I'm addicted too...

Sarvowinner Apr 28th, 2007 07:19 AM

Jackal on now - after our trip to the Serengeti last year they are one my favourite animals - so graceful.

321go Apr 28th, 2007 08:43 AM

Wow - I finally saw something on it. An elephant!
