Passport renewal question

Will I be notified when the passport office sends us our new passports? Will they be trackable? Thank you.

I don't remember ever getting a notification in advance of receiving it. But Yes you can check the status both on line and by phone.

I didn't receive a notification but was able to check the status online.

Notice was received when passport was printed and it was in the mailbox within days.
  • Receive automatic email updates on the status of your application by entering your email address after locating your pending application in the Online Passport Status System.
No sign yet of the about-to-expire passport.
It took about five weeks, but this was during the emergency shutdown;
don’t know if that made a difference.

Yes, because I checked automatic email updates. I sent my passports across the US and had them returned two and a half weeks later. The old passports were returned a few weeks after that. I sent the passports and received them back all during the government shutdown. I was told that passport renewals were not affected at all by the govt shutdown.

I don't assume that. I assume that those who can provide helpful info will, & those who cannot help will scroll on past without comment.

But you assumed that we'd all take for granted that you are American, since you saw no need to mention your nationality in your question...
