Passport damage?
Hello everyone!
I just picked up a visa yesterday to study abroad for a semester in France. The process, even though it was successful, was extremely hard and gave me a lot of anxiety. I have a new issue though. Because I had to go to NYC to obtain my visa, I had to ride the subways to get to the consulate and also on the way back so I wanted to keep my passport secure. After I got the visa, I didn't have anywhere to put it except for in my pocket. When I slid it into my pocket, I noticed that I felt one of the pages had been creased. I got back to my hotel room and took out my passport to discover that the blank visa page across from my French visa had been creased. I wouldn't consider it folded because the creases weren't that deep. Here is a link to what the crease looks like: http://i.imgsafe.org/ca70f27.jpg Do you think that I'll have a problem making it through the airport or through customs? It really doesn't matter at this point if the answer is no because I don't have enough time/money to obtain a new passport. I'm just looking for reassurance because it doesn't seem that bad to me. Also, the information page and my French visa page are both 100% damage free. Thanks for your help! |
I don't think you should have a problem because your face can be seen and the passport can be swiped.

I'm no expert, but since the wrinkle is only on a blank page I would not expect it to be an issue. If you're worried you could contact the passport office and ask.

You will not have a problem. You should see the state of my passport, creases, stains, staples, you name it! The only damage likely to incur problems is where the laminated page containing your photo and/ or any microchip is contained (the authorities may assume it has been deliberately tampered with. Don't worry!

I don't think this will be an issue since it is not really that damaged. It's not like the whole passport was crippled. Don't sweat it. You'll be fine.

Even so. My wife's photo on her passport has been altered by water but she is still recognizable - perso I went to the visa authorities to ask if I may have been a problem.
Seems they accept a certain level of damage... |
